Joe Satriani, whose real name is Joseph, began playing guitar after the death of Jimi Hendrix (as previously played drums). Satriani has taught some famous guitarists in the world, such as Alex Skolnick.Teve also a curious relationship with Steve Vai and Satriani taught Steve to put strings on a Floyd Rose guitar model, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, and David Bryson of Counting Crows.Em 1984 Satriani recorded an EP under his own name containing 5 songs on there were only guitars. Steve Vai, his friend and former student, to get Joe a contract with Relativity Records, and at the same time released his first album "Not Of this Earth". His fame however came with the album "Surfing with the Alien". Album that earned him millions of sales around the world and his first Grammy nomination. In 1996 she created together with Steve Vai G3 tour, in which it holds every year since then along with other great guitar virtuoso, recording CDs and DVDs of some shows. Joe got in a world dominated by pop, be one of the most successful guitarists in instrumental rock of recent times, selling millions of albums, regularly stocking running at their concerts. He is currently a guitarist in a project Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen) called Chickenfoot.

In 2008, Satriani and the group Coldplay have had a misunderstanding because the song "Viva La Vida" Coldplay group that is equal to the music If I Could Fly by Joe Satriani.
